How we almost got stuck on an uninhabited tropical island

Bongoyo is an uninhabited tropical island about a half-hour boat ride away from Dar.  It is the perfect way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon.

There is no accommodation on the island and the last ferry leaves to return to Dar at 4:30 pm.  But, as we discovered, the ferry will wait for you almost indefinitely if you have lost track of time because, for example, you became entranced by the aqua waves, fell asleep on the beach, or got lost in the maze of paths that cover the island.

The guys working at the small restaurant on the island assured me that it happens all the time.
